HEIC.dev was established to solve the cross-platform compatibility challenges of the High Efficiency Image File Format (HEIF). Our objective is to provide a high-performance, privacy-first, and accessible conversion utility that operates entirely within the client-side environment.

We believe that managing your visual data should not necessitate data exfiltration to remote cloud servers or the installation of proprietary, resource-heavy software.

Technical Innovation: The No-Server Architecture

Standard online converters typically utilize a "Server-Side" model: your files are transmitted to a remote server, processed using server resources, and returned via a temporary download link. This architecture introduces significant latency and substantial privacy risks.

HEIC.dev utilizes a "Client-Side" model powered by WebAssembly (Wasm). By compiling professional-grade C++ image processing libraries into binary instructions that run natively in your browser, we achieve:

• Absolute Privacy: Image data is processed in volatile memory (RAM) and never persists on any disk outside your device. No data is transmitted to our infrastructure.
• Local Performance: Conversion speed is dictated by your device's hardware, eliminating the "Upload/Download" bottleneck associated with multi-gigabyte batch jobs.
• Scalable Security: By removing the server from the processing equation, we eliminate the primary attack vector for data breaches.
